I am so excited to see all of the Cell Analogy presentations tomorrow! A number of you have already sent me a link to your project via O365 or sent me a copy of it in an e-mail message. Any of those options are great, or even bringing in a flash-drive tomorrow with your project loaded on to it.

I am sorry for not posting yesterday! I was not feeling very well at all and had to stay home. We are back on track today, though!!

Homework for the evening is to read for 25 minutes and have 1 response to turn in on Friday
Wordly Wise #10, C & D (The Quiz will be on Thursday) Content area words will include organelle, nucleus, mitochondria, cell wall, and cytoplasm
Math homework is to go on to IXL and work on multiplication. Start with some basic/easy multiplication and once you hit a smart score of 90, move on to a more challenging multiplication task. Get a 90 or higher on that as well.

Happy Wednesday!
I hope that everyone is staying dry out there!!! At least it is warm and dry in our classroom! Plus we are super busy with Esperanza Rising, writing a research based opinion essay, learning about cells, and multiplying fractions! Outside of our room, Target will begin again tomorrow. I know the students are eager to start that again. Thursday we have Super-Specials in the morning and Friday is the picture day for 5th grade...I know last week was a false alarm, but this time it's for real!! 😁

Tomorrow we will be taking our 5th grade picture, so please wear your orange t-shirts!
Bingo night tickets came home in Thursday papers this afternoon, so please look through the papers for that. Additionally, all of the graded papers in the folder are form the last marking period. Report cards will be ready for you to view on-line in Parent Vue tomorrow, January 10, 2020. If for some reason, you are not able to access parent vue to see the report card, please contact me and I will print a hard copy for you.

A few words about up-coming events: Bingo Night is Friday, Jan.10, Super Specials is Thursday January 16, Fifth Grade pictures will be Friday, Jan. 17 at 8:00 am. Please wear your 5th grade t-shirt.

Welcome to the first (school) day of the new decade!!!
That sounds way more exciting than happy Monday. 😉
I missed everyone over break! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday filled with family, laughter, and love. I also hope that everyone is rested and ready to tackle the second half of the year! We have so many exciting things ahead of us! First up is an exciting opportunity to attend Cobb EMC's Career Day. The students came home with a flyer today, but I am including a copy of it here as well.
Cobb EMC began their Career Day program over 25 years ago and has hosted more than 1,700 local students. This year, Cobb EMC will partner with Davis Elementary 5th grade students to help prepare them for future career opportunities. On January 16, 2020, select students will be paired with a Cobb EMC employee to shadow and learn about their STEM-based careers in electric operations at Cobb EMC. Cobb EMC employees will cover topics that will vary learning experiences to increase future career opportunities.
How to enter: Stop by the front office on 1/7/20 to pick up an application. All applications are due back by the end of the day. Cobb EMC employees will read and select 8 lucky 5th grade students to attend the event. If you are selected, more information will follow.
Students will be transported from Davis to Cobb EMC via CCSD transportation.
Bingo Night will be this Friday, Jan. 10. I will be there to help call numbers. The flyer for that was sent home today as well. I hope to see you there!
