Homework for the evening
Reading: Chapters 1 and 2 for Esperanza Rising. Answer the questions on the WS either on a flag in your book where your found the answer (text evidence) or write it on the WS but you will still need to place the flag where you found the text evidence.
Wordly Wise #7 D & E. Study for your quiz tomorrow. :)
My math class has IXL again. Every night work on Mult. and Div. skills to 90% accuracy, then move on to 5.k.1, 5.k.2, 5.k.3, 5.k.4.

Welcome Back!
I hope everyone had a good time over break and is rested and recharged for the second half of the quarter.
A few notes and reminders about upcoming events.
This Friday (11-30) is the Bake Sale and the following Friday (12-7) is the Holiday Shoppe. The Spelling Bee is scheduled for December 6th and the Holiday Sing is on Tuesday the 11th. We will have Arts Alive on December 17 and our class party is the 18th, with December 20 and 21 being half days. There is a lot going on in a short amount of time!
Homework for today:
Reading: Esperanza Rising You will reread Chapter 1 as one part of your homework and should continue to focus on details that help you understand what it is like where Esperanza lives.

Also, be sure to prepare for Friday's Book Club by reading your section and writing a response.

The Writing Celebration this morning was great! I am so impressed with the quality of their work!

**For our friends who were out earlier this week and missed the Immigration powerpoint, I was not able to attach it here. I will do it with them in class tomorrow.

Tomorrow is our Celebration for our Informational Writing. Students should bring in their completed presentation tomorrow to share with the class.
In Reading, we will be having our book club on Friday. Students who participate in that on Fridays need to come to school prepared.
My Math class will begin taking their Unit 3 test tomorrow and Friday.

Tuesday is no school! Take your children when you vote!
While they are home tomorrow, they should read for at least 25 minutes.
The Wordly Wise Quiz will be on Thursday, but they should use Tuesday wisely and spend the time studying their words. Perhaps make flashcards for the meanings, or write a creative story using as many of the words as they can.
If your child has an IXL account, spend time on Tuesday reviewing basic facts and then practicing the skills they are currently working on in their math class.

Thanksgiving Harvest Lunch on Thursday. Join your child for lunch and then stay and take them to the book fair!
November 12th is the Veteran's Day Breakfast and Parade.
Canned Food Drive is also this week. Be sure to bring items in!
