Happy Thursday!!
We have a fun day planned for tomorrow, so come to school with lots of books to read and a blanket or a pillow!
We also have our Peace Day assembly in the morning and a special treat that will have everyone saying they want s'more!!
The Unit 1 Math test will be continued tomorrow. Please use tonight to continue to study and review any items that you feel that you need more work on.
Don't forget to sign the agenda and gold sheet tonight!
We have begun to switch for Science and Social Studies. My homeroom is going to Mrs. Matson's class for Social Studies and her homeroom is taking Science with me. Please be sure to visit the blog or website of that teacher for more specific information related to tests and the like.

Happy Wednesday!
So many things going on before fall break!! Picture Day was today and everyone looked so nice!
We will begin the Math Test for Unit 1 tomorrow. Target students will get additional time, since they will be out of the classroom for the majority of the day. 😊 If you wish to use any of the videos from this unit as part of your review, they are all located on the 5th grade website. You will need to scroll down to see the ones from earlier.
Friday is Peace Day and our Read-In. After the assembly, we will read for the rest of the morning in our homerooms. Please be sure to bring in a few books to read. You may also bring in a blanket or a pillow /stuffed animal. Anything you bring must fit into your backpack. There will be a special snack! Thank you to the families that have sent in the donations for Friday's treat!
Homework:
Read for 25 minutes
Be sure you have one reading response done by Friday
Study for your spelling test on Friday, if you need to
Study for your Math Test.

Happy Second to Last Day of Testing!
Please continue to go to bed early and have a good, healthy breakfast in the morning before school.
We have Social Studies and Science to do tomorrow and then we will be done. 😀
With the testing this week and fall break coming up, here are my thoughts on the Wordly Wise/Spelling for Lesson 3. I will begin assigning HW for lesson 3 tomorrow night , as the IOWA test will be finished. Friday, 9-13 will be the spelling pretest. Wed, 9-18 will be the WW #3 Quiz, and Friday, 9-20 will be the Spelling Test. I do realize that it is a shorter window than usual, but otherwise, they will forget their words over the week of fall break.
We have also begun switching for Social Studies to Mrs. Matson's class. Please use the 5th grade website to find Mrs. Matson's blog for any homework or announcements pertaining to SS.

Day Two of Testing is Completed!
We have Math tomorrow and then Science and Social Studies on Thursday. Friday will be a regular day. 😊😊
While I did not assign HW, there is a WS in Social Studies that Mrs. Matson assigned. Please do the assignment and have it ready for Mrs. Matson when she comes in to teach Social Studies.
Be sure to get a good night's rest and eat a good breakfast tomorrow!

Happy Friday!
As great as the day was, I am beginning to feel that all we do on Fridays are test, test, test!! I would like to move the Wordly Wise/Spelling Test to Wednesdays in order to not have everything pile up on a Friday. Since next week is IOWA testing, that is a perfect time to start! We will be moving into Wordly Wise #3, but we will not have the Quiz until Wednesday, Sept. 18th and the spelling test on those words, plus the five additional content words, will be Oct. 2.
Today marks the mid-point of the first 9 weeks. Please be sure to check Parent Vue regularly. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me! 😊 If you need the forms to access the portal, I can help you with that too. Information came home today on the Reading Inventory and Math Inventory that we took at the beginning of the year. We use this data to help us guide our instruction in the classroom. You can use it at home to gauge progress as we move through the year.
Next week is IOWA testing, so please be sure to come to school on time and well rested. Go to bed early and eat a good breakfast. We will have plenty of healthy snacks to keep us powered up during the testing. Thank you again to the parents who have donated items for us! We 💖you!!

Happy Thursday!!
Maybe it is just the short week, but I can't believe that tomorrow is Friday!! There is a lot going on tomorrow, so I will try to provide all of the pieces here for you.
We have our morning work quizzes tomorrow. Please remember that you are able to take home your morning work folder to go over it. We go over all of the answers each day, but looking at it again may help too. I am not able to attach the fix it Friday here, but I did find a help sheet on commas which I will attach.
Next on our list is the Science test. We went over the study guide in class today and everyone should have it completed. I will attach what we did in class for our friends who were in Target today. If you have not completed the essay question at home, please do so, this way you will be prepared when you get to class tomorrow.
Tonight's Math HW involves a worksheet and dividing by partial products. I will attach the video that we watched in class today, in case you want a refresher. 😇

Happy Wednesday!
I am so sorry that I missed posting yesterday's blog! It was a busy day! 😊 I loved seeing so many of you at Bruster's last night!
We finished our Tsunami STEM activity and there were some excellent ideas for how to protect a community from damage! Speaking of Science, continue working on the study guide this evening. I will go over it with the class tomorrow and they can continue studying tomorrow night in advance of Friday's test.
This Friday marks the mid-point of our first 9 weeks. We will begin switching for Social Studies on Monday, Sept. 9th. Also, be sure to keep up with your child's grades via parent connect.
Other Homework for this evening:
Reading: Read for 25 minutes and complete one reading response this week, due on Friday.
Spelling: 1 choice board activity for students who will be taking the test on Friday.
Math: Do 10 minutes of multiplication facts on First in Math, and three more problems on the WS.
Science: See above. We will go over the study guide and discuss all of the answers in class tomorrow.
