Happy Tuesday!

The ABC Projects were fantastic!  I am so impressed with the quality of their work!  

As a reminder, the last week of Milestones testing for 5th grade is this week!  We have Science and Social Studies on Thursday and Friday of this week.   I gave the class a packet to read and study from.  They may be reading and highlighting it in class tomorrow, but will be taking it home tomorrow to continue studying from.

Happy Monday!!

It's almost Friday!  And this week, that means Mabry Field Trip!  Please be sure to wear your 5th grade t-shirts tomorrow for the occasion.  We will also be participating in our outdoor learning/STEM day in the afternoon.  If you want to bring a hat and/or sunglasses for the afternoon portion of our day, a donation of $1.00 for each of the aforementioned items can be made to Relay for Life. 

Thursday papers went home today and included in the stack was information about the Flower Walk and Graduation Party at the end of the year.  Additionally, the times for the Awards Ceremony is below.  

Our 2018-2019 Awards Day will be held on Wednesday, May 15th.
The K-2nd time is 8:00 am- 8:50 am.
The 3rd-5th time is 9:00 am- 9:50 am.
Parents of students who are being recognized will be notified.

Tomorrow begins our first day of testing.  To ensure that everyone is well rested in the morning, there will be very little homework this evening and no homework for the rest of the week.  If you need to take the spelling test from WW #14, that will be given tomorrow.  Everyone else should do WW #15 C only.

Welcome Back!  I hope you all had a great break!

Tomorrow morning, we have a wonderful opportunity to see the play, "And then they came for me".  It will go along with our study of WWII.  On Wednesday, we begin the ELA portion of the Milestones testing. Please ensure that you come to school well rested and ready to work hard!  Don't forget to eat a good, healthy breakfast.

Reading - Read for 25 minutes
Wordly Wise #15 - A & B tonight.  The Quiz will be given on 4-17.  That means there will not be a quiz this week as it is a testing week. 
Math - My math class has a WS.  It is front and back.  There will be a quiz given tomorrow with items from the HW.  (Hint hint!)

Sorry for not updating this blog as often as I usually do this week. It has been another busy day/week!!

We had a magnificent performance of the Barber of Seville this morning!  What an experience!

There is not a lot of homework this evening.  As usual, read for 25 minutes and my math class has a WS for converting customary units of measurements.  

I am attaching a copy of the anchor charts we created in class here.  
I am also going to attach the Spring Break Incentive Chart that went home earlier this week.

How to Win:
When a student finishes a practice test on the Parcc website, a photo of the website can be sent to me via email, remind, or you may print the final screen with the score to show that it was completed.
IXL accounts and Kahoot! can be checked at school on Monday, April 8th.
For every completed activity between March 29 and April 7, you will get your name written on one piece of paper. This means if you complete 5 activities, you will get your name on 5 pieces of paper.
On Monday, we will draw names for prizes. The more you play, the more chances you have to win!

Art Night tonight!  Don't forget to come to the school this evening to see all of the wonderful works of art our students created!

Tomorrow is our big field trip!  I am attaching the letter that went home last night with information about the trip and what they can and can't bring on the bus tomorrow.  Don't forget to wear your 5th grade t-shirts!

My Math class needs to finish up the IXL assignment from this week. 
Other than that, no HW!  😁

Warm Springs Parent Info Sheet

·      All students should be at school at 7:30.  Bus boarding begins at 7:45 and we depart at 8:00 exactly.
·      All students should wear their Davis 5th Grade t-shirt
·      Snacks will be allowed on the bus.  Students may bring a snack for the trip to and from Warm Springs.  Students may not share snacks with others. 
·      Snacks must be brought in a bag that contains all their food.  Clearly mark the bag with their name. No Backpacks. 
·      The bus ride is round-trip 3 hours.  PLEASE no sugary drinks, snacks, or candy!!!
·      Drinks must have a screw-top lid- no cans
·      No Electronics allowed- including cell phones or music players.
·      We will return around 4:00-4:30.  A Remind Text will be sent when we get off the highway. 
·      Students may bring a ‘G’ or ‘PG’ movie for the bus ride.
·      We will be having lunch in a restaurant- remind your child about proper behaviors.
·      The cost of this lunch was included in the initial field trip cost.  No additional money needed.
·      If your child has any dietary needs, please review the menu online ahead of time with your child.  If you have additional questions please contact The Bulloch House

·      There will be a gift shop at The Little White House.  A max of $20 is recommended.  No food will be allowed to be bought at the gift shop.  Children will be responsible for their own money IF they choose to bring any.

Happy First Day of Spring!

The Davis Dash was a blast!  We had so much fun running the obstacle course and watching the SUMO wrestling! 

Tomorrow we will take our rewards from the dash and wear our pjs while having a read-in in the morning and watching a movie and eating popcorn in the afternoon. 

The fun continues on Friday with our Warm Springs field trip.  The information sheet regarding buses and what to bring came home today.  Please wear your 5th grade t-shirt for the field trip.

Math: IXL 5.Z.8-12 90% accuracy on each skill by Friday.

The class earned "dress your teacher", so bring in your items for me to wear tomorrow!  While I wear that, you guys get to wear the colors/shirts from the college you want to attend.  

Please don't forget to sign the agenda and gold sheet tonight.  We had our math test today, so there is not a lot of homework.  Read for 25 minutes and a choice board activity if you need to keep working on the spelling.

Happy Early Release Day!!
I think I was a little too ambitious planning for the early release day today!  We never got to do the WW #13 Quiz and spelling pretest, so we will do that first thing tomorrow morning.  (Bonus day to study!  😁)

Tomorrow is also Picture Day.  Please dress accordingly.  Our time for pictures is at 10:49.  We will switch our recess, so that we will go out to play after we take pictures.  

Unit 5 Math Test will be given tomorrow too.  Everyone spent today reviewing the study guide, so be sure to study tonight.
