Happy Wednesday!!
We had a slight schedule change today, so that will affect our HW this evening. We did not have Social Studies so the quiz will be tomorrow.
Home work for this evening is to read chapter 2 of Esperanza Rising again this evening. We will be reading each chapter multiple times. Each time you read it, you will have a deeper understanding of the characters and what they are going through. I will caution you again to not read ahead! I know that is hard, but you can do it!!
Keep studying for the Social Studies.
Math was a bonus for us today. I did not have homework to assign, but if you want to get ahead, watch the video I have linked below from Khan Academy and do some of the practice. 😇
Math video on subtracting fractions with regrouping and mixed numbers
Love you guys!! Have a great day!

Sorry about the misunderstanding with the math video last night! There was no video to watch! 😉
Homework for this evening:
Reading - Reread chapter 1 and then go ahead and read chapter 2. The reading guide I sent home to go along with the reading section does not have to be answered on the worksheet. Use sticky notes as evidence flags to mark in the book where you find the answer to each of the questions.
Spelling #7 - Choice Board Activity and the test will be tomorrow.
Math - No video tonight. Please finish the WS we started in class today. We will go over all of the answers in class tomorrow. 😊
Social Studies - Mrs. Matson will be giving a quiz tomorrow. Please have your SS Weekly newspaper with you, as you will be able to use it during the quiz.
Have a great evening and stay warm!!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful break!! It was so great to see everyone and get back into the routine!
The next few weeks are going to be very busy with the holidays coming up in earnest! Who else is amazed that it is December already???
This Friday is the 5th grade bake sale. We are asking that everyone bring in 2 dozen individually wrapped treats by 7:15 on Friday. I will also be choosing 2 individuals to help with selling the treats. If you are interested in selling on Friday morning, please write me a persuasive piece (be as creative as you wish) as to why you would be the best person for the job. 😁
Homework: Reading - read for 25 minutes and have one response done by Friday.
Spelling - List #7 Choice board activity. The Test will be on Wednesday.
Math - Watch the video. I do not have it uploaded yet. Please check back after 5, or look on Mrs. Matson's you tube channel.

Happy Wednesday!
Not much for homework this evening. I talked to the class this afternoon about, for this week only, lowering the pretest benchmark to 80%. It is my hope that by doing this a majority of the students will not have to worry about the spelling words over Thanksgiving Break. As usual, the WW quiz and pretest will go home tomorrow in Thursday papers.
Reading: Read for 25 minutes and have on response completed by Friday.
No WW or Spelling tonight. Instead, use the time to work on your Ellis Island paper, putting it in your One Note Writing Folder.
Math: WS on Adding and Subtracting Fractions. Feel free to review last night's video before starting the WS.

Happy Thursday!
What a great day!! Again, I want to thank you for all of the donations to the food pantry! You guys really are all Rockstars!!
We started a new unit in Math on Fractions. We will begin by focusing on subtracting and adding fractions with unlike denominators. We will move into subtracting mixed numbers with regrouping the fractions. Please be sure to watch the videos that Mrs. Matson creates for the students. These are important to watch before class, as we are practicing that skill once we are in class.
We also started to switch for Science and Social Studies. My homeroom is now going to Mrs. Matson for Social Studies and her homeroom is taking Science with me.
Don't forget...It is Thursday, so graded papers came home today. Also, sign the agendas and gold sheets this evening!
Homework:
Reading: Read for 25 minutes and have the response ready to turn in tomorrow.
Wordly Wise #7: A & B
Math: Watch the video on Multiples and Least Common Multiple

Please continue to bring in donations for the food drive! We are collecting for families in our community that are not as fortunate as we are. Thank you to all of the families that have already donated.
The science test will be on Wednesday and I have posted the completed study guide on today's blog.
Homework:
Read for 25 minutes and have one reading response completed for Friday
One Spelling Choice Board Activity
Study for the Science test
These same assignments will be tomorrow night's HW as well, since I will not be in school tomorrow.
